Costa Brava

The dramatic coast

The coast of contrasts, Costa Brava, runs from Barcelona in the south to the French border, with the Pyrenees in the background to the north. The coast is 214 kilometres long and a mix of fantastic nature and charming fishermen villages, as well as wonderful beaches and colourful culture. Costa means coast and brava means wild in Spanish. The name paints a picture of the spectacular cliffs and cool nature mixed with crystal clear, azure blue water.

Norwegian Holidays offers you handpicked hotels in two different cities along the coast. Choose to stay in Tossa de Mar and experience a picturesque village with great beaches or choose an accommodation in vibrant Lloret de Mar which is the “capital” along the coast. Wherever you choose to stay you will have good opportunities to experience everything that Costa Brava has to offer.

Something we recommend for you to experience the awesome nature, is hiking. Costa Brava is an beloved destination for hikers. Along the entire coast there are well marked trails to follow, suitable for day trips. Enjoy the surroundings and enjoy the peace, and take the chance swim in a cosy bay and eat good tapas in a local restaurant in a small village.

Five things not to miss:

  • Beautiful Santa Clotilde Gardens located on a cliff in Lloret de Mar. It has a fantastic view over the ocean.
  • The medieval castle Sant Joan located in the outskirts of Lloret de Mar, which is a symbolic place on the Costa Brava coast.
  • The whole family will have fun at Water Park just outside of Lloret de Mar. There are plenty of pools and waterslides for all ages.
  • Enjoy exciting history and a beautiful view in Vila Vella (old town) in Tossa de Mar.
  • All of the beautiful, golden beaches and bays side by side.

Best time: Between May and September most people visit the coast. Peak season, and warmest are June, July and August when the average temperature is nearly 30 degrees (Celsius).

Travel here: Direct flights from London.

Welcome to Costa Brava!

N.B! In Catalonia every tourist must pay tourist tax, which you do directly to the hotel. The cost is approximately between 0.50 – 3€ per person and night. Children up to 15 years old pay nothing.
