On Macedonian menus there is grilled meat and many similar dishes that you can also find in other parts of the Balkans. Make sure to try the national dish Tavče Gravče; fresh beans that are first cooked and then baked in the oven. Another favourite is Pastrmajlija which is a kind of pie with dried meat. Most restaurants have menus in both English and Macedonian.
Nightlife
For those who are eager to move on after dinner, there is the Debar Maalo area with many newly opened bars. The longest opening hours, however, you’ll find in the bars in Čaršija.

The addresses in Skopje can be a bit confusing. Often, only street names are listed because there are usually no numbers.
Overall, Macedonians speak pretty good English, and talking is something they gladly do! Not least, they are very curious about Sweden and other countries, and are well known for their hospitality and warm reception.
Macedonia is a very price worthy destination and is considered one of the cheapest countries in Europe. Travelling by bus is super cheap, and likewise is a taxi especially when compared to other European countries. The taximeter starts in as little as 6 SEK and then increases 3 SEK per kilometre.
Macedonia has gained more visiting tourists in recent years, but the country is still largely unexplored among tourists. So book a trip as soon as possible and take the opportunity to enjoy the genuine Macedonia!
