Belgrade

Discover the capital of Serbia, Belgrade, a colourful, genuine and fairly-priced weekend gem that has blossomed to a hip, creative and cultural city that is usually called the new Berlin.

Take a walk around lively boulevards, have a seat on some of the boats with restaurants along the Danube, or go shopping in trendy Savamala. Get an inside look into the 90s dark history and get inspired in this bubbly and cultural city.

Belgrade is one of the oldest cities in Europe, and you’re reminded of its troubled past when you walk around the city. Here, you’ll find an amazing mix of epic buildings, quaint churches and Soviet architecture. It’s a refreshing mix of old and new.

Belgrade is, simply put, a perfect weekend getaway for new impressions. It’s also a very fairly priced destination that is perfect for your budget.

Travel tips!

Take a walk on the pedestrian street Knez Mihailova, the soul and heart of the city filled with shops where you will find beautiful souvenirs. Also, visit Skadarska which is usually called the Montmartre of Belgrade and is filled with antique stores, street musicians and restaurants with local food. Food and drinks are pretty much religion in the capital of Serbia. Sip on cocktails at one of the many bars along the beach (Ada Ciganlija: a must in Belgrade!) and also visit one of the restaurants Homa, Manufaktura or Radost Fina Kuhinjica.Take a leafy break in the Kalemegdan park and enjoy an evening cruise at the Danube for only 5 euros per person.

  • A pint of beer costs around 1 euro (make sure you taste the national drink Sljivovica made with plums).

Flight and transport

The flight lands at Belgrade airport, Nikola Tesla Airport which is located 18 km west of the city centre of Belgrade. You can travel to the hotel by bus which takes around 30 minutes. Bus 72 or 607 takes you from the airport and a one-way ticket is around 1 euro if you buy it at a kiosk, and on the bus, it’s 1.50 euros. Taxi is around 15-20 euros, and it’s a fixed price. The best way to get around in Belgrade is on foot, as the distances are short. Also, public transport is well functioning; you will find both tram and bus here. It’s also really cheap. We recommend renting a bike, too!
