Vilnius – lovely and charming at low prices

Vilnius is a charming spot in the East and the perfect destination for a city break, filled with amusements and friendly people. Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania and has one of Europe’s best preserved medieval districts, the old town, which is listed at the UNESCO World Heritage List. The heart of Vilnius, the Old Town, holds more than a thousand monuments from various time periods; several are masterpieces from the baroque, the Gothic and neoclassicism which are gathered around the magnificent cathedral and city hall. Most sights are located around the cobblestoned alleys and squares in this area and it’s easily accessible by foot.

Other popular sights in Vilnius include the KGB Museum, located at an old Soviet prison, and the highly located castle from the 13th century offering a stunning view of the city centre. We recommend taking a ride on the popular funicular to the castle or, if you prefer walking, take a stroll along the tortuous trail.

The main attraction is simply walking around the city and eating and drinking like a king, at prices that are usually one third to those at home.
