Hamburg – the Gateway to the World, the Beautiful City in the North, the Green City by the Water, among so many other names. Beloved places have many names, and there’s a reason Hamburg is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. Even the otherwise restrained Hansa citizens can’t hide their pride of “their” city. Everyone that has ever visited Hamburg is smitten by its maritime charm.

But what really makes Hamburg unique is a particular joie de vivre, something you have to experience for yourself. Hamburg was also awarded to the City of Europe 2018, and is considered one of the best cities in the world for a night out with friends!

Getting around

In the Hamburg Metropolitan area, you can travel by commuter train, subway, and “MetroBus” from 5 AM to around 11 PM, with 5-10 minute intervals between each train/bus. At night the transport network is supplemented by express buses and regional buses. We recommend buying group and day tickets or a Hamburg CARD to keep your budget at a reasonable level.

Taxi: There are many taxi companies that use a fare meter. You can expect the fare to be about 15 euros per fifteen minutes, plus a tip. We recommend the following taxi companies: Hansa-Taxi (+49 40 211 211) & Taxiruf (+49 40 211 211).
