Tallinn

Join us on a trip to Estonia’s capital! Tallinn, Estonia’s largest city, has experienced a boost in popularity in recent years, and now everyone has their eyes set on this the preserved medieval port on the Finnish Gulf. Tallinn, with its historical city centre, is considered the best preserved medieval city in Europe, and in 1997, the old town was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The winding cobbled streets are shared by both tourists and local residents on their way to and from work, with the city attracting visitors from all over the world.

The city’s beauty with its Gothic spires, picturesque alleys, and spellbinding architecture are not the only things placing Tallinn on the map as a popular and appreciated city to visit for a weekend. In recent years the city’s food culture has experienced a boom, in large parts thanks to the new trend everyone is talking about, ‘resto’, gourmet food with a Baltic touch.

Recommended: Leib! A great example of the Estonian ‘resto’ trend and something we recommend during your visit to Tallinn is Leib, a restaurant located in a cosy garden right next to the city wall. Leib serves everything from beef tartare to delicious desserts inspired by French cuisine. www.leibresto.ee

Spend a day strolling around the old town and enjoy the authentic medieval charm of the structures from the Hansa-era, and then visit the city’s restaurants, bars, museums, and beautiful galleries. The streets are lined with historical buildings like medieval churches, worn barns, and merchant houses with lots of history in their walls! Tallinn welcomes you to a world combining and inspired by the old and the new, historical charm and a rich cultural life meets modern convenience. Just a stone throw away from the old town, you’ll find a bustling business centre with trendy areas with malls, luxury hotels, and magnificent skyscrapers.

Tallinn is a dense capital, and just a weekend is enough to get to know the city since everything is within walking distance. Tired after a long day of walking? Don’t worry. The city’s tramlines are easy to figure out, and the buses are also convenient. Tickets cost 15 SEK.

When night falls, Tallinn invites you to dance, and the city is an excellent destination for everyone who wants to enjoy themselves until the early morning!

If you continue a bit further east of the city, you’ll find nice, sandy beaches. Tallinn is a wonderful and vibrant city during all seasons and has something to offer to everyone! Why travel far when you have Tallinn just “around the corner”?
