Billund

Billund is a town in southern Jylland with about 70,000 inhabitants that most people have a relationship with, perhaps without knowing it…

What is a combination of the Danish words leg (play) and godt (good) and that everyone on the planet is said to own 86 pieces of?

We are of course talking about Lego. The company was founded in Billund almost 90 years ago when they actually started manufacturing wooden ducks, but in 1949, the founder’s son developed the plastic brick system that today is a standard feature in most kids’ (and adults’) play rooms all over the world.

The presence of Lego is for natural reasons seen everywhere in Billund. Two of the town’s main attractions are Legoland and Lego House, both attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors every year and we highly recommend that you book your visits to those in good time so that you’re certain of getting the wonderful experience you’re all looking for.

Legoland is actually 9 separate amusement parks put into 1 – here you find

  • Miniland – a journey around the world in miniature, filled with different constructions made out of 59 million Lego bricks
  • Adventure Land – with among other things, Viking ships, jungle race cars and river rafting
  • Duplo Land – especially for the somewhat smaller children, with e.g. slides, miniature airplanes, small buildings for climbing and a mono-rail
  • Imagination Zone – with Atlantis, the underwater world
  • Knights Kingdom – including the castle Knights Kingdom and river rafting
  • Legoredo Town – a fully built Wild West setting
  • Ninjago World – recently opened adventure world with among other things a laser labyrinth
  • Piratland – a pirate themed adventure world
  • Polar Land – including the ride Polar X-plorer and a penguin land.

Lego House is a 12,000 square meter experience center in the middle of town built out of 21 gigantic Leg-like bricks, where you are invited to play with 25 million pieces – both “in real life” and digitally. There are 2 exhibition areas, 4 play / build areas and 9 roof top terraces with playgrounds, so you can without a doubt spend a full day in the Lego House.

But this is not everything Billund has to offer – one of the Billund hotels in our offering is situated in Lalandia, a tropical vacation resort including and built around Scandinavia’s largest waterpark Aquadome, featuring massive water slides, climbing towers, wave pools, spa, bubble pools and a food court.

It’s safe to say that Billund has a lot of fun and relaxation to offer everyone in the family!
